Firefighter Accused of Attacking Cop Suspended

Defendant will return to court on July 29.

A city firefighter who allegedly attacked a police officer in Forest Hills on July 5 has been suspended, an FDNY spokesman an said.

Angel Valerio was arrested after he and a group of men are alleged to have punched an off duty officer in front of Forest Hills' TGI Fridays and attempted to take the officer's service weapon, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

The defendant, who has been arraigned on assault and robbery charges, will return to court on July 29.

If convicted, he could face up to seven years in prison, a DA spokeswoman said.
