Emergency Crews Respond To 72nd Drive Fire

FDNY, volunteer ambulance corps help rescue resident.

Early Saturday morning, Queens fire crews and emergency medical technicians responded to a Forest Hills fire on 72nd Road between Queens Boulevard and Austin Street.

According to a representative of the Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the fire started in an apartment above the Best 1 sushi restaurant, on 72nd Road.

Several fire crews arrived to the scene and managed to pull one person from the apartment.

The resident’s injuries were not serious, and he was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.

The incident is the third in under a week in which fire crews responded to a fire in the Austin Street shopping district.
