What's happening in local crime? Check here to find out.

Crime numbers — in particular those in the burglary and larceny sectors — have seen an increase in the most recent week, according to the 112 Precinct.

  • Burglaries were the crime with the biggest percentage increase over the week, with a 250 percent jump. That only translates into five actual crimes, but compared to 2011 things have been a little rough on that front lately.
  • The increase in burglaries has led to an 80 percent hike over the last month. It has also put the precinct on the same pace as last year, with 130 reported incidents in 2012.
  • Grand larcenies, the bane of the 112 Precinct, saw an increase over last year as well, with 14 committed in the most recent COMPSTAT report over 10 last year.
  • There was also a substantial increase in petit larcenies, with 33 reported between Nov. 26 and Dec. 2, a jump over the same period last year of more than 94 percent.
