NYPD: Low Crime Week in Forest Hills, Rego Park

Crime numbers drop in most recent stats.

Things went pretty well for the 112 Precinct, covering Forest Hills and Rego Park, in their most recently released COMPSTAT report.

Each week, the NYPD release their year-to-date statistics for each precinct. In Forest Hills and Rego Park, the police have struggled mightily to keep crime down in certain areas — in particular grand larceny and burglaries.

But things took a good turn recently. Have a look below:

  • There was one burglary in the neighborhood this week, less than the same period last year. For the month, the NYPD in the precinct is also outperforming their 2012 numbers. They're going to have to keep that up if they want to catch up for the year, though.
  • The nine total grand larcenies — while still not a great number — beat last year's weekly total of 10 and has the precinct on pace to outperform last year's total, as well.
  • There was one robbery during the week, less than the same time last year, but for the month the precinct still had one more robbery overall than in 2012.
  • Petit larceny took off compared to last year, with 28 total incidents in the week, over last year's 12. While not a major crime, it is an area where local cops are working to fight an increase.
