Crime at a Glance: Huge Drop in Illegal Activity This Week

Burglary was the only category that increased, but only slightly.

Crime plummeted 61 percent in the 112th Precinct this past week with drops in three of the seven major crime categories, according to police statistics. 

There were no murders, rapes or felony assaults during the past week in the precinct, whereas two assaults had been reported during the same week in 2012.

The number of robberies fell from five during the same week in 2012 to none in the past week. And the number of grand larceny auto incidents fell from four during the second week of September 2012 to none during the past week.

The number of grand larceny auto incidents had the largest drop, from 15 incidents during the same week in 2012 to five this past week.

Burglary was the only crime category on the rise, but just slightly. Two incidents were reported last year at this time, while three took place during the past seven days.

The 112th Precinct covers Forest Hills and Rego Park.
