Crime at a Glance: Grand Larceny on the Rise in 112th Precinct

Overall crime was up 11 percent for the week after two weeks of significant drops in incidents.

Crime was up 11 percent during the past week in the 112th Precinct following two weeks in a row of whopping 31 percent drops in incidents, according to police statistics.

However, the number of incidents only rose in one of the seven major crime categories.

There was one felony assault in the precinct, which was the same amount of incidents reported during the same week in 2012, but no murders or rapes.

The number of robberies dropped from three incidents during the same week in 2012 to two incidents this past week. And there was only one burglary this past seven days as opposed to two incidents during the same week last year.

Grand larceny auto also fell from two incidents during the same week in 2012 to one incident this past week.

However, grand larceny was up this past week. There were a total 14 incidents reported, whereas only nine incidents occurred during the same week in September last year.

Overall crime was up 11 percent for the week, but still down two percent for the year.

The 112th Precinct covers Forest Hills and Rego Park.
