Crime at a Glance: Grand Larceny

Take a look at the most recent crime numbers in Forest Hills.

After a spring in which residents worried about a big increase in burglaries, residents now have another concern — an old one — grand larcenies.

Have a look at the crime numbers in the most recent available week, courtesy of COMPSTAT:

  • Grand larcenies were by far the biggest concern in the most recent week. There were 12 recorded between May 13 and May 19, matching the number from 2012.
  • Burglaries were way down compared to last year, with just one committed during the week, compared to five in 2012.
  • For the month, robberies are still up by more than 44 percent. 
  • Despite the drop in recent weeks, burglaries are still up for the year in total by more than 65 percent. 
  • Grand larceny auto is basically the same as last year, with just one more committed in 2013 compared to the previous year.
