Crime at a Glance: Forest Hills Statistics

A look at the crime numbers in your neighborhood.

Crime numbers in Forest Hills continue to hold steady in a surprising summer for crime. While there have been some high profile incidents over the last few months, the overall numbers continue to see a decline.

There were just 18 major crimes reported in the 112 Precinct, which includes Forest Hills and Rego Park, between July 9 and July 15.

  • The most impressive statistic might be the number of automobiles reported stolen: zero. Compared with the same week in 2011, in which there were three. So far this year 43 cars have been reported stolen, down from 48 last year.
  • Once again, the only number that showed an increase was felony assaults, which jumped from three during the same week last year to five in 2012.
  • There were three less burglaries reported during the week, with just two incidents occurring this year, compared to five last year.
  • Overall, the number of major crimes that occurred during the most recent reported week dropped by almost one third.
