Crime at a Glance: Early December

Things improved somewhat over last week.

Let's take a look at some of the crime numbers from the most recent week in Forest Hills and Rego Park:

  • Grand larceny, per usual, was the crime with the biggest numerical increase between Dec. 3 and Dec. 9. There were 13 reported incidents during that period, compared to just eight during the same period last year.
  • For the current 28-day track, grand larcenies are up by more than 26 percent.
  • On the year, however, grand larcenies are still down compared to last year, though just by three percent.
  • Burglaries saw a slight jump as well, with one more committed this year as compared to 2011.
  • Robbery doubled the numbers from last year, with four committed in 2012.
  • In minor crimes, petit larceny went up again compared to last year, with 29 committed in the most recent week, comported to 21 in 2011.
  • The precinct is on track to have no homicides in 2012.
