Crime at a Glance: 25 Percent Drop This Week

The number of incidents dropped in three of the seven major crime categories, according to police statistics.

The 112th Precinct saw a large dip in crime for the second week in a row with the number of incidents dropping in three of the seven major crime categories, according to police statistics.

There were no murders, rapes, robberies or felony assaults during the past week, whereas two robberies and one assault were reported during the same week in October in 2012.

Additionally, there was a drop in the number of burglaries from six incidents during the second week of October 2012 to three incidents this past week.

Two grand larceny auto incidents were reported, which was the same amount of incidents during the same week last year.

Grand larceny was the only crime on the rise during the past week. A total 10 incidents were reported during the past week, which was up slightly from nine incidents during the same week in 2012.

Overall crime for the year is down seven percent in the precinct, which covers Forest Hills and Rego Park.
