Crime at a Glance: 2014 Kicks Off with Drop in Number of Incidents

Burglary and grand larceny auto on the rise during 2014's first week.

Crime dropped 20 percent in the 112th Precinct during the first five days of 2014, according to police statistics. 

There were no murders or rapes during the week between Dec. 30 and Jan. 5 in the precinct.

The number of robberies fell slightly from two incidents reported during the first week of 2013 to one incident this past week.

The precinct reported two felony assaults during the week's first year, which was down slightly from the three incidents that occurred during the first week of January 2013.

And grand larceny was down from 13 incidents during 2013's first week to eight incidents during the first week of 2014.

There has been one car stolen in the precinct so far this year, whereas there were no grand larceny auto incidents reported during the first week of 2013.

Burglary is on the rise with a total four incidents reported through the fifth day of the year. At this point in 2013, only two incidents were reported in the precinct.

The 112th Precinct covers Forest Hills and Rego Park.
