112th Precinct Community Council to Host Holiday Party on Dec. 18

Annual event will include music, food and awards for poster contest.

The 112th Precinct Community Council will hold its annual holiday party and December meeting this coming week.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Dec. 18 at JHS 190 Russell Sage, located at 68-17 Austin St. in Forest Hills.

“We’ll have free food, the results of our contest and a band coming,” said Heidi Chain, president of the council.

The group will announce the winners of its December poster contest, which asked local youths to create a poster encouraging residents to keep their lights on at their houses or apartments while not at home.

The party is free and open to the public.

Chain said the event allows for members of the 112th Precinct and community residents to become acquainted.

“It’s a great opportunity for the police and the community to relax together with food and music,” she said.

The event will also serve as the council’s December meeting, so attendees will be able to get updates on local crime statistics.
