Holiday Spirit in Forest Hills!

No need to head to Manhattan for holiday music! There is plenty right here in Forest Hills this season! Whew, I'm relieved.

There are certainly a plethora of holiday musical events all around the city at this time of year.  It is a veritable smorgasborg of options.

We all know New York at Christmas is a magical thing, but if you're like me and you are looking to enjoy your time off with some peace away from the crowds, and the subway, and still get some top notch musical entertainment this season, you don't have to look any farther than Forest Hills!

The Forest Hills Choir is having a holiday concert at St. Luke's at 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 17th featuring Vivaldi's Gloria in D, Menotti's "Shepherds' Chorus", and Yon's "Gesu Bambino" Tickets are $20.00

There is a Caroling Party open to all leaving from St. Luke's at 4:30 on Sunday, December 18th (with potluck dinner to follow) walking around the Forest Hills Gardens, if you have the urge to follow in the old tradition of singing carols to your neighbors.

Then on the 24th at 10:00 pm (Christmas Eve) there is a Choral Candlelight Eurcharist with a Festive Prelude of Carols and Works for Organ and Choir.  Some musical highlights include: Variations on a Noel (I-VI), Lo, how a rose e'er blooming, Ding Dong! Merrily on High, Alegria, Riu Riu Chiu, Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella, Ave Maria, among lots of others.
