Volunteering Opportunities in Queens This Holiday Season

Find out where you can volunteer for Thanksgiving and the weeks to come.

There are a number of opportunities for volunteering in Queens this Thanksgiving and holiday season.

Below are four Queens-based sites that need volunteers. If you know of other local charities or groups in need of volunteers, please let us know in the comment section.

Holiday Spectacular Decorating Event: Holiday Windows in Far Rockaway- This event will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Far Rockaway Library, located at 1637 Central Ave. During the event, volunteers will serve food and talk with teens at this lunch catered especially for youths. Catholic Charities Ozone Park Senior Center- The center, located at 103-02 101st Ave., provides nutritious meals for seniors that are cooked on-site. Transportation to the center is provided for seniors who are unable to drive or take public transportation. Volunteers at the center will deliver hundreds of meals to the elderly on the morning of Thanksgiving Day. For more information, call 718-726-9790.

God’s Love We Deliver- This program provides meals across the five boroughs to people who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves. The group draws nearly 8,000 volunteers annually. For more information on specific events, visit God’s Love We Deliver’s website or call 212-294-8158.

Toy Drive with Culinary Kids- Volunteers will assist youths in learning about healthy eating habits. The program will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 20 in the Rockaways. For more information on the location, visit New York Cares’ website.
