Rosh Hashanah Services in Forest Hills

Find services and events taking place this week for the holiday.

Rosh Hashanah begins on the evening of Sept. 4 and lasts through the evening of Sept. 6. Forest Hills Patch has compiled a list of local services and special events taking place this weekend.

The holiday, which serves as the Jewish New Year, is the first of the High Holy Days that begin in the early autumn.

Forest Hills Jewish Center (106-06 Queens Blvd.)

Sept. 4: Candle lighting at 7:06 p.m.

Sept. 5: Rosh Hashanah Tashlich at 5 p.m.

Sept. 6: Candle lighting at 7:03 p.m.

Sept. 7: Shabbat Shuva, Parashat Ha’Azinu and Havdalah at 8:04 p.m.

Reform Temple of Forest Hills (71-11 112th St.)

Sept. 4: Evening service at 8 p.m.

Sept. 5: Congregational service at 10 a.m., children’s programs at 2 p.m. and Tashlich at 3:15 p.m.

Sept. 6: Meditation service at 10:30 a.m.

Queens Jewish Center (66-05 108th St.)

The center will be holding Rosh Hashanah services on the evenings of Sept. 4, 5 and 6. Call the center at 718-459-8432 to reserve seats.

Young Israel of Forest Hills (71-00 Yellowstone Blvd.)

Sept. 4: Candle lighting at 7:04 p.m., Mincha at 7:10 p.m.

Sept. 5: Shacharis at 7:45 a.m., Daf Yomi at 6 p.m., Mincha at 7 p.m. and candles at 8:11 p.m.

Sept. 6: Shacharis at 7:45 a.m., Daf Yomi at 6 p.m., candle lighting at 7:01 p.m. and Mincha at 7 p.m.

Sept. 7: Shacharis at 8:45 a.m., Mincha at 6:50 p.m., Drasha at 7:10 p.m., Maariv at 8:08 p.m.
