Forest Hills Memorial Day Parade to March on May 26

Former legislators Melinda Katz and Serphin Maltese will be this year's grand marshals.

Former state Assemblywoman and former state Sen. Serphin Maltese will be the grand marshals of this year’s Forest Hills Memorial Day Parade.

The march will begin at noon on May 26 at the corner of Ascan and Metropolitan avenues in Forest Hills.

It will then head west to Remsen Memorial Park and Trotting Course Lane.   This year’s sponsors for the parade include the Forest Hills Kiwanis Club, TD Bank and the community’s American Legion post.

The parade’s organizers could not immediately be reached for comment.

Over in northeast Queens, the Little Neck Douglaston Memorial Day Parade will kick off at 2 p.m. on May 27 in Great Neck. That parade is considered the largest of its kind in the nation.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Michael Bloomberg are expected to walk in the Little Neck Douglaston parade. This year’s grand marshal is the 77th Sustainment Brigade, an Army unit that was formerly housed at Bayside’s Fort Totten.
