Today in New York History: The Mets Win the World Series

For Mets fans, October 27, 1986 was a very good day.

Mets fans have lived through the heartbreak of the 2006 National League Championship Series, the collapse of 2007 and, yes, the collapse of 2008.

In 2000, the only World Series trip since the 1980s ended with a loss to the hated rivals from the Bronx.

In between, a whole lot of bad baseball, which included a pitcher who lost 27-straight decisions.

But today isn't about the losing seasons, many of which have piled up since the Mets moved to Citi Field.

Today is about Oct. 27, 1986, the last time the Mets won the World Series. Happy Anniversary Mets fans.

Enjoy the game, which originally aired on NBC.
