Drop by Patch every week to find out how to help local residents with fundraising goals.

An online campaign dedicated to raising money for a dog's surgery has raised $185.

Forest Hills' Mara Newman created a GoFundMe page titled "Jett's Surgery Fund." The total fundraising goal for the campaign is $5,000. So far, five people have donated to the initiative.

The page reads:

My poor little angel Jett needs surgery for a ruptured disc hitting his spine. He's a rescue and took care of my mom before she passed. His whole life, he's an angel.

He has been rewarded with tons of toys, treats and a great life thus far! But now he is in a lot of pain and needs surgery, which is $5,000.

His vet bills have already been a tad bit under $6,000 and vets have absolutely no payment plans.

Anything will help! Thanks everyone. Ruff ruff. Love, Jett.
