Why
do Muslims fast during Ramadan and why do Jews fast during Tisha B’Av?
What is the meaning of fasting and of shared communal meals for Muslims
and Jews? These and other questions about shared customs and values will
be discussed at a very unusual Muslim-Jewish Break Fast Friendship
Ramadan Meal right here at the Central Queens Y.

The
evening will feature a light kosher and halal Middle Eastern meal, Turkish music, a call to prayer, and a short discussion of the meaningof customs in both religions. The program is co-sponsored by the CentralQueens Y and the Turkish Cultural Center of Queens in an effort tofoster interfaith dialogue and understanding.
