Queens County Farm Seeking Educators to Lead Tours and Workshops

Historic museum trying to fill positions that would begin later this month.

The Queens County Farm Museum is searching for farm educators who can lead guided tours of the site and run education workshops.

The museum, which is the only historical working farm in the five boroughs, is looking for educators who can guide tours of the farmyard and teach workshops for students in elementary, middle and high school.

The programs are offered Monday through Friday in the morning and require occasional weekend work.

Work is based on seasonal availability. Applicants must have the ability to give tours to large groups of students, lead workshops independently and physically be able to take hayrides.

According to the farm, applicants must also have an upbeat personality, experience working with students of all grades and leading groups of at least 30 to 50 children and adults, an interest in agriculture and history and knowledge of sustainable agriculture and urban farming.

Work is currently available for late March, April and May. Summer hours are limited, but work resumes in September, October and November.

All employees start at $10 per hour.
