Grab & Go Kids Planner: School's Out For Winter Break!

Some options for the President's Week vacation courtesy of Forest Hills Patch.

While school is out next week we are all looking for activities to keep our kids active and engaged.  Check out the variety of mini camps and holiday programs around town, sure to have something for everyone:

Schools Out! Innovation Camp
Sign up for a unique experience exploring concepts in science, technology and engineering through hands-on investigations.  Each Innovation Camp includes interactive activities, exhibit exploration, snack and lunch.

Project Green Team
Grades 6 – 8
Feb. 21 – 25, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
What is global warming or greenhouse gas? Find out what climate change really is and how it affects you and our planet. Measure your carbon footprint, explore how to reduce waste, and learn how to "go green" in your own community. You can make a difference!

Science Adventures
Grades 3 – 4
Feb. 21 – 25, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Take a fantastic journey through the world of science as you explore different topics through hands-on activities that excite you and make you question everything around you! With a little bit of biology, a taste of chemistry, and a run-in with physics, your mind will go through a grand adventure.

Queens Zoo Wildlife Adventures Mini Camp
Children will discover the natural world around them in this exciting wildlife adventure. Campers will meet a different animal group each day and go on behind-the-scenes tours at the zoo exhibits, enjoy live animal presentations, and participate in arts and crafts activities.

Central Queens YMCA /Winter Break & Holiday Programs for Grades K-6

The offers full-day programs for elementary school children that include gym, swimming, arts and crafts, special events, entertainment and trips out of the building. Activities include a trip to the Hall of Science, swimming, gym, the Funzone Indoor Amusement Center, a screening of “Gnomeo & Juliet" and bowling at Whitestone Lanes.

Feb. 21 – 25.  Programs run from 9:00am-5:00pm (with extended care options available)

Camp Can-I-Can/Young Chefs Academy
Feb. 23–25; 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. 108-10 72nd Ave between Austin Street and Queens Boulevard, second floor, Forest Hills, Queens (718-268-0343, youngchefsacademy.com). Three days $199, one day $75.

Camp Can-I-Cook® is the place to be during special times of the year. Each camp consists of a three-hour session for three, four or five consecutive days. Campers will get to experience new tastes and learn to prepare recipes from various cuisines "with a twist". Each camp takes on a personality of its own. With themes such as Summer Treats to Beat the Heat, The Great Kitchen Mystery, "Party at Pennsylvania Avenue" and "Gadget Madness for the Independent Chef™", you never know what to expect next!
