Frugal Family: Rid Kids of Library Fees
The Month of October Will Be a Sweet One for Kids with Library Penalties.
Parents and kids alike have all incurred library late fees. A late book here and there can really add up and add to the family budget, as well as deter children from enjoying all that the public libraries have to offer.
During the entire month of October the Queens Libraries are offering kids the opportunity to open a “New Chapter.” Students up to 18 years of age are invited to bring back any overdue items, even if they are late, and they will not be charged a single penny. All incurred fees and penalties will be completely forgiven so kids can start the new school year with a fresh, clean slate.
Queens students will be entitled to a brand-new “New Chapter” library card so they can begin to borrow books and magazines immediately. Additionally, students can participate in programs including Read Down Your Fees and other to earn credits and further their library experience.
So whether you owe 15 cents, or 15 dollars, this a a great program to rid kids of library debt and get back to borrowing all of the free resources our local libraries provide.
