Frugal Family: Have Yourself a Frugal Halloween

Check Out all of the Great Halloween Events Taking Place Around Town.

For kids, the anticipation is building as Halloween approaches.  The Forest  Hills Frugal Family rounds up the bestHalloween events going over the next two weekends, right here in town, to make the most of the holiday.

Boo! Spectacular 2011
October 22, 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Queens Museum of Art, Flushing Meadows Corona Park
This annual fundraiser transforms the museum into Halloween madness and kids and parents alike enjoy Halloween themed art-making workshops all day, a costume parade, pumpkin carving, storytelling, face-painting and much more. While the $75 ticket price may seem a bit steep at first, this donation gets you six tickets to the Spectacular as well as a one-year family membership to the museum.  Plus, its all for a great cause.  Get details at Queens Museum of Art.

Maple’s Grove’s Great Halloween Festival and Carved Pumpkin Contest
October 29, 2:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
83-15 Kew Gardens Road
Adults and children of all ages are welcomed to a great day of Halloween festivities which will include a children’s costume parade, Halloween arts & crafts, scary stories, pumpkin lightings and pumpkin contests. Children under 12 are free.  For adults and children over 12, there is a suggested $5.00 donation.  For more information visit Friends of Maple Grove.

Boo at the Queens Zoo
October 29 & October 30, All Day
Flushing Meadows Corona Park
Kids ages 12 and under who are wearing a costume get free admission to the zoo’s Halloween extravaganza which includes face-painting, pumpkin picking, trick or treating of course lots of creepy crawlers.  For details visit Boo at the Zoo.
