Flash Flood Watch Issued In Queens County

One week after Irene, residents faced with the possibility of more flooding throughout borough.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Queens County, almost exactly a week after Tropical Storm Irene swept through the area, dumping inches of rain on the five boroughs.

According to the National Weather service, the flash flood watch will remain in effect through Tuesday morning, as a result of possible heavy thunderstorms that could pass through the area Monday afternoon and overnight.

The flood watch also indicated “heavy rainfall rates in excess of one inch per hour will be capable of producing urban flooding.”
