Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz, D-Forest Hills, also expressed admiration for the former congresswoman.

“I was proud to have known Geraldine Ferraro and admired her strength and knowledge,” Koslowitz said. “I was also proud to have her as my constituent. She will be missed, but always remembered. She truly paved the way for women.”

State Sen. Joe Addabbo remembered the progress that his father, a congressman and colleague of Ferraro’s, achieved with her.

“New York and our nation lost a true credible, dedicated trailblazer when Geraldine Ferraro passed away over the weekend,” Addabbo said. “Her work as a teacher, lawyer, mother, local and national public servant who set new standards, is truly to be admired and honored.”
