High-quality beef and shrimp meet top-notch scotch.

The outdoor enthusiast might be disappointed with the surf and turf in Forest Hills, but the food connoisseur will find some of the borough's best beef and seafood at an eatery called

First the steak, which comes from corn-fed cattle in South Dakota. Options include a 42-ounce Porterhouse prepared with a Homemade Sauce, a Skirt Steak Marinated with Cilantro, Parsley, Garlic and Black Peppercorns and Beef Short Ribs with Wasabi Mashed Potatoes and Crispy Onions.

While the red meat is specially raised and its accompanying sauces take time for the flavor to mature, Aged takes a different tack on its seafood, which is caught in the wild and delivered fresh each morning. Dishes include Golden Fried Calamari, Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes and Mussels in a White Wine Sauce with Roasted Artichokes, Sundried Tomatoes and Blue Cheese. And then there is the Maple Chili Glazed Chilean Seabass over Sweet Potato Puree.

Mouth-watering for sure, but general manager Vishal Sharma seems most excited about the spirits. He offers almost 30 kinds of single-malt scotches, including flavors from every region of Scotland. He's also proud to have some high-end tequila, bourbon and rye brands, as well as a large assortment of Spanish and boutique wines.

Sharma is also excited about his three three-course lunch options. All selections have the soup/salad and dessert features, but diners can go with burger-type entrees ($11.95), fillet-type entrees ($14.95) or the salmon, steak or specialized quesadilla entrees ($22.95).

When the weather warms up, Aged will open its summer patio, but for now patrons dine within the eatery's four walls, where wood rafters mix with chandeliers made from oak wine barrels. With the banquet-style, candle-lit tables and neo-modern bar, the ambiance is a little bit country cabin and a little bit Meatpacking District.

The upcoming rise in temperature will also bring a musician, composer and bandleader Evan Schwam on a regular basis. A Jazzman to the core, Schwam often plays with Chico Hamilton on drums, George Bohanon on trombone, Cary DeNigris on guitar and Paul Ramsey on bass.
