2011: The Year That Will Be In Forest Hills

Now that we've looked back, let's look forward for the new year.

As we look forward to the new year on Jan. 1, it's time to think about what stories have the potential to change the face of Forest Hills in 2011.

Here are some of the stories we think could be big news throughout the year in Forest Hills.

The city is prepared to make even more cuts this year than it did in 2010. , what's going to happen to those who count on city sevices that may be on the chopping block?

Forest Hills has had crime reductions in almost every category in all of the last three years. As police budgets are stretched across the city, will the 112th Precinct be able to maintain a fourth consecutive year of downward-trending crime numbers?

One of the biggest stories of last year was the West Side Tennis Club voting not to sell its tennis stadium to a local developer, but that doesn't mean the stadium will stick around long. Already, the club is entertaining other offers for the historic venue.

With measures in place on the federal and local level to attempt to stimulate the economy, shopping districts all over the country are hoping to bounce back after the recession. Will Forest Hills shopping drags like Austin Street, Metropolitan Avenue and more be able to grow again?
