Twist and Smash'd Unveils Menu, Hours Prior to Black Friday Opening

Eatery cooked up by father-daughter team following trip to Ecuador.

Twist and Smash’d, a new burger restaurant that is expected to open on Black Friday on Austin Street, has provided Patch with further information on its menu and hours.

The eatery, located at 72-06 Austin St., will make its Forest Hills debut on Nov. 29.

Chef Robert Cano came up with the idea for the restaurant while on vacation with his family in Ecuador three years ago. During his visit, he discovered a small café that sold twisted potatoes and was enchanted by the idea of a potato on a stick.

Cano, who studied at the Culinary Institute of America, and his daughter, Brianna, decided to bring the idea back to Queens.

“This area is the perfect backdrop for our first location and we think this neighborhood and those visiting will enjoy this new restaurant,” the Canos said.

The restaurant will feature a variety of specialties, including chicken and waffles, short ribs and the Italian burger. Each burger is prepared with 100 percent premium natural Black Angus beef.

Twist and Smash’d also uses equipment that turns a potato into a twisted potato on a stick. They can be topped with salt, cheddar, chipotle and lemon pepper.

Drinks at the eatery include strawberry lemonade, mango iced tea and watermelon juice.

And the restaurant incorporates green practices, such as composting, eco-friendly packaging and using energy star products.

Twist and Smash’d will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
