Eddie's Sweet Shop Ranked as One of the 15 Best Ice Cream Parlors in the World

Forest Hills shop ranked 13th in list of world's best ice cream parlors.

A Forest Hills sweet shop has been listed among the 15 best ice cream parlors in the world by USA Today and The Daily Meal.

Eddie’s Sweet Shop, located at 105-29 Metropolitan Ave. in Forest Hills, was ranked 13th in a list of the best ice cream parlors across the globe.

“This sweet shop will take you back to the good old days when whipped cream was made by hand, banana splits were served in metal bowls and soda jerks could charm the girls right off their bar stools,” USA Today’s article read.

Eddie’s Sweet Shop could not be reached for comment.

Manhattan’s Big Gay Ice Cream, which ranked fifth, was the only other ice cream parlor in the five boroughs. Fenocchio in Nice, France came in first place.

Eddie’s Sweet Shop, which has been a fixture in Forest Hills for more than 100 years, serves handmade ice cream, milkshakes, sodas, sundaes and other sweets.

Its interior consists of a honeycomb pattern inlaid mosaic floor, a paneled dark wood and marble counter and a painted stamp tin ceiling with a rose accented molding.

Eddie’s serves approximately 20 homemade flavors, all of which are prepared in the store’s basement and served in pedestal ice cream dishes with whipped cream.
