QCC's Performing Arts Center to Host Boy Bands, Hungarian Folk Group in November

All-4-One and Color Me Badd will play the center on Nov. 16, while the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble will perform on the following day.

Queensborough Community College’s performing arts center will host two concerts on complete opposite ends of the musical spectrum – a pair of boy bands from the 1990s and a Hungarian folk group.

On Nov. 16, 90s R&B acts All-4-One and Color Me Badd will play at 8 p.m. at the arts center, located at 222-05 56th Ave. in Bayside.

All-4-One scored a number one hit and a Grammy in 1995 for their hit, “I Swear,” but also landed in the top 10 with their songs “Sukiyaki” and “I Can Love You Like That.”

Color Me Badd had a number of huge hits in the early 90s, including “I Wanna Sex You Up,” “All 4 Love, “I Adore Mi Amore” and “Forever Love.”

The group was first discovered by Jon Bon Jovi and mentored by Robert Bell of Kool and the Gang.

“One would be hard-pressed to find a better way of spending a Saturday evening than reminiscing to the wonderful harmonies of two of the best male vocal groups of the last two decades,” said Susan Agin, executive and artistic director of QCC’s performing arts center.

On Nov. 17, the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble will play QPAC at 3 p.m.

The group, which was established in 1951, collects and presents folk music and dances from Hungary, while wearing the traditional costumes of its various regions.

Dancers during the performance are accompanied on stage by both the folk and gipsy orchestras. The group will perform both contemporary and traditional tunes.

“With their colorful costumes and seamless blend of music and dance, the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble is a feast for the eyes and ears for ages 9 to 99,” Agin said.
