Six Great Places To Eat Ramen

New York City food lovers are going nuts for noodles. Here, a list of some of our favorite haunts.

Dubbed the "undebatable noodle of the moment" by Thrillist, ramen is experiencing a bit of a renaissance throughout New York City.

From David Chang's hipster haven Momofuku to long-beloved Japanese chain Ippudo to the recently opened pop-up Yuji Ramen shop at Bowery Whole Foods, there are more places to try than you can shake a chopstick at.

Here, in honor of National Noodle Month (who knew!?), we've collected some of our favorite spots to slurp broth at in Brooklyn and Queens.

Chuko

The noodles at this Prospect Heights restaurant have a “good tooth,” according to one New York Times review. Also recommended are the kale and sweet potato salad, Brussels sprouts and a mizuna salad (apple, fennel and pork). 552 Vanderbilt Avenue, Brooklyn, 718-576-6701

Dassara Brooklyn Ramen

Ramen enthusiasts who want to take a break from meat-centric meals would do well to try the Mushroom Ramen at this funky upstart. The earthy broth is cut with a creamy poached egg and bright seasonal greens. 271 Smith St., nr. Degraw Street, Brooklyn, 718-643-0781

Ganso

Recently featured in New York magazine's "Best of New York" issue, this noodle den gets high marks for a broth rich from "fermented broad-bean paste, chiles, tiny shrimp, and the fragrant garlic chives known as nira." 25 Bond Street, Brooklyn, 718-403-0900 

Daidokoro Restaurant

Packed on weekends with customers crazed for their sushi, this Bayside-area dining hub also serves a mean bowl of noodles in a simple shoyu broth. 42-24 Bell Boulevard, Bayside, 718-224-5815

HinoMaru Ramen

Proof that ramen is growing as a form of comfort cuisine in New York City, this Queens restaurant was recently lauded in Food & Wine magazine for serving its noodles with uni and Parmesan cream. 33-18 Ditmars Boulevard, Astoria, 718-777-0228

Zuzu Ramen

An alum of Lespinasse and Jean Georges, chef Akihiro Moroto isn't afraid to try new twists on tradition, such as Thai-inspired green-curry-miso ramen, in addition to more classic preparations. 173 4th Avenue, Brooklyn, 718-398-9898.
