This week's comments are from a story on a call to remove Ed Koch's name from the Queensboro Bridge.
The comments of the week all came from the July 15 story, 'Dump Ed Koch from Queensboro Bridge: Vallone,' in which Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., D-Astoria, called for the former mayor's name to be removed from the bridge.
Here are some of the comments from that article.
"Agree with Mr. Vallone," wrote Forest Hills Patch reader Robert. "Not only is the name confusing but long winded, which is in keeping with the self promoting Ed Koch. Under Mayor Koch, corruption was unchecked. The borough of Queens should take its name back."
"Everyone calls it the 59th Street Bridge," wrote reader Barbara. "That's what they should rename it. Feelin' groovy."
"The bridges, tunnels and roadways should be left as they were originally designated," reader Steven Katz wrote. "This frivolous waste of taxpayers' money is just another example of the politicians not caring one iota about how much of our money they spend."
