Patch Asks: What Should Anthony Weiner Do Now?

The Forest Hills Patch Family Council Weighs in on the scandal.

After another week of "Weinergate," The Forest Hills Patch Family Council wants to know what you think Anthony Weiner should do at this stage of the scandal.

Are you in favor of allowing him time off to seek treatment or is it time to throw in the towel?

When this first happened, my family and I supported him.  I just thought, what a pathetic, stupid thing to do, but it doesn't make him a bad representative.

I thought, it is between him and his wife.  Now, with photos coming in from the Congressional gym and , it is just a distraction from real news.  I feel badly because he is just a guy that did an incredibly stupid thing, who knows why, but I think he has to go.  — Rob

I am so done with Anthony Weiner. I think at this point he should continue with treatment and keep a low profile!!! — Stephanie

this kind of addiction is no different than alcohol or drug addiction. It's a medical issue, & it needs to be treated. if he weren't taking care of it then, yes, he should resign. but since he is treating it properly, let him go through it. what if, g-d forbid, it were a cancer issue & he needed to go for chemo, or a kidney issue & he needed to go to dialysis? would you get rid of him then? as long as he is able to do his job properly, then allow him to keep his job. Look, if his wife is standing by him (pregnant & all) then we should as well.

as the saying goes, liberalism is a mental disorder. weiner's sexting is NOT cancer...he is a grown man doing it consciously on government tax payer time. the sleeze bag needs to take his addiction to a bathroom...get off the public payroll now!

I live on the block next to Mr. Weiner's building in Forest Hills Gardens and the media has been camped outside ever since the news of his twitter photos surfaced. This has become a real nuisance to the people in the neighborhood. Initially, I felt sorry for him and hopefully, he will get over the frenzy, but now that more lewd photos have appeared, I feel he should resign and save what's left of his life and his family

I can't help but think all the media frenzy is really about the fact that they finally found something negative to say about my Congressman. I am completely disinterested in the way he chooses to use his online time as long as he continues to show up for work and express my voice via votes which he has done, though I do feel fir his wife. Wiener is not my friend--I elected him to do a job which he has done perfectly until the media stopped him. Everyone should let him get back to work

The sexting showed extraordinarily poor judgement. The ethics issue comes up in the lying to cover it up, and in particular, accusing Andrew Breitback of tweeting the picture when he knew that this was a complete falsehood. That says a lot about his character, or lack thereof. He is NOT someone who should be representing constituents in government. I agree with cb -- sexting is not an illness like cancer, this is an intentional act of someone with an oversized ego trying to show off (I'm not sure what he's trying to show off, frankly). I feel sorry for his wife.

WHAT SHOULD WEINER DO NOW? BE LISTED ON A PUBLIC SEX OFFENDER LIST; HAVE HIM BANNED FROM FACEBOOK TEXTING, COOPERATE WITH THE ETHICS COMMITTEE INVESTIGATION, AND GRACEFULLY REFUSE THE LIFETIME CONGRESSIONAL PENSION YOU AND I WILL BE PAYING THIS SCUMBAG FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE.
