The dog days are just about over for one lucky Great Dane-Labrador mix from New Jersey. Tucker, the 3-year-old pup, got life-saving surgery this week after his owner received an anonymous $1,000 tip while bartending.

Christina Summitt, Tucker's owner, told the New York Daily News she was in "complete shock" when she picked up the receipt.

“I started shaking, I couldn’t breathe," the 37-year-old Harmony resident said. "How could there be three zeroes on there?”

Summitt and the customer, who was "just your average guy," chatted about Summitt's animal rescue work. Next the conversation turned to Tucker, who had swallowed a tennis ball and needed $2,700 surgery.

She tried refusing the tip, but the customer insisted.

“It was crazy," Summitt told The News. "I can’t believe someone would just do that."

Tucker came home from the hospital on Sunday and is healing, The News reported.
