New York Cares to Spruce Up 11 Queens Parks April 20

Group will clean, mulch and plant at Queens sites, including Little Bay Park and Alley Pond Park.

New York Cares is seeking 4,000 volunteers to take part in a day of sprucing up 11 borough parks on April 20.

As part of its 19th annual spring greening event, New York Cares will help to revitalize 70 parks, gardens, playgrounds and community centers across the five boroughs.

The closest clean-up site for Forest Hills will be nearby Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, the biggest in the borough.

“This year, we have a special focus on ensuring that our parks and gardens have fully recovered from Hurricane Sandy and that all are ready for the influx of visitors during the summer months,” said Gary Bagley, executive director for New York Cares, which is the city’s largest volunteer organization.
