Group to Host Tree Pit Cleaning-Up in Forest Hills

Forest Hills Green Team's annual event will take place on Oct. 5.

The Forest Hills Green Team will host its annual cleanup along Continental Avenue and 71st Avenue in Forest Hills on Oct. 5.

During the ninth annual event, volunteers will spruce up the tree pits near the intersection of the two roads.

"It's to get people more aware of the community and to help," said Steve Melnick, of the Queens Boulevard Restoration Project. "Those trees site year-round and nobody takes care of them. This goes a long way."
