Great Escape: The Holiday Train Show

The New York Botanical Garden unveils its miniaturized version of a NYC winter wonderland.

All aboard the Holiday Train Show!

Celebrating 20 years at the New York Botanical Garden, the Holiday Train Show is an annual extravaganza that showcases miniature replicas of New York City's biggest landmarks.

And this year, fans of the Holiday Train Show will get a never before seen, inside look at the artist’s studio, which offers a behind the scenes look into the making of these amazing dioramas, crafted entirely with plant parts.

Indeed, the Holiday Train Show is a must see holiday hit, with scaled down models of the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, Radio City Music Hall, and original Yankee Stadium, all made of bark, twigs, stems, fruits, seeds, and pine cones.

Then there are the trains—more than one dozen of them—that coalesce to form a large-scale model rail system from yesterday and today.

Some highlights include the American steam engines and streetcars as well as the modern freight and high-speed passenger rail trains.

The Holiday Train Show is open Tuesday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on the weekends from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
