Forestdale to Host Ceremony, Barbecue for Parenting Program

Event will include graduation for 24/7 Dad program and food.

Forestdale will host a barbecue on Sept. 28 to get the word out about a parenting course it offers at its Forest Hills site.

The center’s Stepping Up Ceremony will run from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., while its barbecue will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Participating fathers are graduates from the center’s 24/7 Dad parenting course, which is one of the oldest fathering programs in the city.

The course provides parenting education, career development, co-parenting counseling and an alumni network to more than 250 fathers from Queens every year.

Jomael Young, of Fathers First, will speak during the ceremony at 10:25 a.m.

Forestdale, located at 67-35 112th St. in Forest Hills, is a family services agency that provides fundamental assets to borough youth to ensure they have access to literacy, health, education and career opportunities.
