Forest Hills Library's Winter Programs Include Childbirth Classes, Multilingual Concert

The library will also offer a discussion on cognitive abilities and aging.

The Forest Hills Library is kicking off 2014 with a variety of programs, including a concert featuring music from around the world, a childbirth series and a discussion on cognitive abilities and aging.

The library, located at 108-19 71st Ave., will host a concert on Jan. 14 during which soprano Liora Michelle and pianist Inna Leytush will perform arias and other tunes in Russian, Italian, German, Spanish, Hebrew, Chinese and English.

The show will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The branch will hold a discussion titled Ignite Your Brain from 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. on Jan. 28.

During the program, registered nurse Kathy Moran will talk about cognitive abilities and the aging process. The discussion will include ways to improve memory, problem-solving ability and overall brain health and performance.

Childbirth educator Riki Phillips will hold a three-part series for expectant parents. Topics will include preparing for labor and delivery, birth options, coping strategies, creating a birth plan and resolving problems in labor.

The classes will run from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Feb. 6, 13 and 20. Space is limited and on a first come, first serve basis.
