Forest Hills Hospital Gets New Executive Director

Rita Mercieca, former chief nurse, now the head honcho in Forest Hills.

There’s a new woman at the helm of , according to the North Shore-LIJ health system.

On Friday, the hospital announced that Rita Mercieca, who started at the hospital as chief nurse in 2008, had been promoted to the executive director’s chair.

Former Executive Director Geralyn Randazzo left the hospital to become the vice president of case management in the NSLIJ post-acute services.

Since Mercieca started at Forest Hills Hospital in 2008, the health center has had to deal with a number of challenges, including a new influx of patients after the closure of Parkway Hospital, and the loss of two other Queens patient care centers.

, Forest Hills Hospital has been doing a lot of the heavy medical lifting in the area since its closure.

Mercieca has been honored with the North Shore-LIJ Leadership Award and serves on several of the health system’s task forces.

Prior to coming to Forest Hils Hospital, she got her start in the Emergency Department at North Shore-LIJ Franklin Hospital in Nassau County.
