For Sale: 1930's Mahjong Set

You're not a New Yorker if you don't have a Mahjong set.

This is the kind of thing I wanted to highlight when I started putting this column together. Someone out there has got a Mahjong set that they think is worth nearly $300 bucks.

Is there a person who'll buy it? I say there is. There has to be. This is New York, right?

The thing is going on 80-years-old and it's still good for a great tile-placing time.

The case is "simulated alligator skin" which was not something I thought they had the technology and materials to do in the 1930's, but I'm not a historian.

It's even got a betting device to complete the soul-corrupting influence of this game. You can't find a better vintage Mahjong set in the $300 price range.

So go on, light up a cigarette, put on your bi-focals and teach somebody how to play Mahjong, for crying out loud.

Via craigslist.
