Austin Pharmacy Continues its “Helping
Families Stay Healthy” Campaign with FREE Distribution of Multi-Vitamins for
Children

(Queens, NY) – A new American Academy of Pediatrics
(AAP) clinical report, “Prevention of Rickets and Vitamin D Deficiency in Infants, Children, and Adolescents,” recommends that all children receive 400 IU a day of vitamin D, beginning within the first few days of life.  

Austin Pharmacy has decided that this is an issue that must be addressed, and is now providing a free one year supply of multiple vitamins for all children.

Humans attain vitamin D from exposure to sunlight, diet and supplements. Vitamin D deficiency is common in children and adults. In uterus and childhood, vitamin D deficiency may cause growth retardation, skeletal deformities and an increased risk of hip fractures later in life.

In an effort to address this concern, Nina Shamayeva at Austin Pharmacy has committed to distributing vitamins to the community in which she lives to ensure that the children are getting the recommended daily allowance of vitamins. “Introducing a wellness approach for our community is exciting,” said Nina Shamayeva Pharmacist at Austin Pharmacy.

“We are living in turbulent economic times and although things are sure to get better, right now many families cannot afford health insurance. These same families may lack the necessary resources to properly feed their children, and if they are not getting proper nourishment, their ability to learn and excel is greatly diminished” says Nina. Austin Pharmacy wants to improve the health odds for all children therefore they will distribute free Multi-Vitamins to families for their children.

The line of vitamins included in this offer is limited to select lines and to insure patient safety, the pharmacy will need to confirm with the patient’s doctor that there is no problem adding a particular supplement to a patient’s
regimen. A simple questionnaire must be completed by the parent(s) or guardian and they can pick up a 30-day supply of vitamins for each child in the house.

Austin Pharmacy also carries a line of wellness products and homeopathic remedies that if one does experience flu like symptoms, when taken early enough can often lessen the severity of symptoms and shorten the duration of illness.
