Central Queens Y to Host Knitting Workshop, Singles Social in January

The Y will also offer open houses for its dance and Capoeira classes.

The Central Queens Y is hosting an open house for its dance and Capoeira classes, a knitting workshop and an event for singles over the age of 45 years in January.

On Jan. 5, the Y will offer free trial classes and open houses for its dance classes for children, ages 3 to 13 years, and Capoeira, which is for children between the ages of 5 and 11 years.

Parents and their children will be able to drop by the Y between noon and 4 p.m.

The Y’s knitting workshop will begin at noon on Jan. 9. Elvera Joseph and Anoush Bog will lead the event, showing attendees how to make yarn by using Navajo, Armenian and Turkish heirloom spindles.

And the Y will hold a singles social for persons over the age of 45 years on Jan. 22 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The event will be free for Y members, but will cost $5 for nonmembers.
