Central Queens Y to Host Concert, Singles Event and Pulitzer Winner Next Week

Forest Hills Y is hosting a bevy of events this coming week.

It’s going to be a busy week at Forest Hills’ Central Queens Y with a visit by a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, a musical performance and an event for singles.

Sheri Fink, the Pulitzer Prize winning author of “Five Days at Memorial,” will discuss a disturbing story she uncovered at a hospital in New Orleans that was affected by Hurricane Katrina.

The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 21. For more information, call 718-268-5011, ext. 151.

On Oct. 23, the Y will host an event for singles, ages 55 and older. The fee is $5 per person, but free for Central Queens Y members.

The event runs from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Registration is required. For more information, call 718-268-5011, ext. 160.

And students from Queens College’s Aaron Copland School of Music will perform at the Y at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 24.

Performers will include pianist Pei-Hsuan Tsai, cellist Sverre Kyvik Bauge and violinist Alex Hu.
