The Central Queens Y will host a performance of Broadway tunes and a shawl making class on Dec. 5.

Jin-Xiang Yu, a musician from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, will perform songs from “South Pacific” and other Broadway musicals from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Y, located at 67-09 108th St. in Forest Hills.

She will also sing numbers from popular operas as well as a few holiday tunes. A $5 donation is suggested for the program.

And the Y will host The Liberated Shawl: A Knitting Workshop from noon to 3 p.m. that afternoon.

Attendees will be able to learn to knit without a pattern and receive assistance from knitters Elvera Joseph and Anoush Mardjanian.

Participants should bring their favorite simple worsted yarn for the workshop. During the class, attendees will learn the principles of how to knit a triangular, ¾ circle and a full circle shawl.

The event is free for members, but costs $2 for nonmembers.
