The Central Queens Y will offer two classes – breakdancing and Flamenco – this fall that will give local children a chance to practice their moves.
The Y’s breakdancing program will run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. every Tuesday beginning Sept. 17 and from noon to 1 p.m. on Sundays beginning Sept. 22.
The Tuesday class is $182 for members and $234 for the general public, while the Sunday program is $154 for members and $198 for nonmembers.
The class, which is aimed at children between the ages of 7 and 12 years, will also include a $15 insurance fee.
And the Y’s Flamenco dancing class, which is also for children between the ages of 7 and 12 years, will begin on Sept. 22 and take place from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on 11 Sundays.
Flamenco is a form of Spanish music and dance from the Andalusian region that combines rhythmic patterns with foot, arm and hand movements. The use of castanets will be taught during the class.
The course is $150 for members and $198 for the general public.
