Central Queens Y to Host Brazilian Jazz Concert

Also, the Y will hold a discussion with author Louise Steinman on the post World War II Polish-Jewish reconciliation.

Forest Hills’ Central Queens Y will host an afternoon of Brazilian jazz on Nov. 13.

Musicians from Queens College’s Aaron Copland School of Music will perform at the Y, located at 67-09 108th St., at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 13.

The performers will play jazzy Bossa Nova songs. Musicians include Isadora Benitez on vocals and guitar, Lukas Pfeil on saxophone, Yongwon Cho on bass and Piotr Pawlak on drums.

A $5 donation is suggested for admission.

And, on Nov. 18, the Y will hold a discussion with author Louise Steinman about her new book on the Polish-Jewish reconciliation following World War II.

The event, which will begin at 1:30 p.m., will include the author’s views on the reconciliation through the views of her own family’s history as well as a discussion on a resurgence of interest in Jewish life, such as cultural festivals and klezmer music, in Poland.
