Center for Women of NY to Hold Annual Job Fair and Conference

Former state Assemblywoman Melinda Katz will be keynote speaker at Oct. 18 event in Flushing.

The Center for the Women of New York will hold its 26th annual job fair for working women on Oct. 18 in Flushing.

The conference and fair, which will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will take place at the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel, located at 135-20 39th Ave.

Registration begins at 9 a.m., while panel discussions will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon and a career fair will follow from noon to 3 p.m.

The keynote speaker will be former state Assemblywoman and current Queens borough president candidate Melinda Katz.

A panel – led by the TimesLedger Newspapers’ Roz Liston – will include Reddy-Care Physical Therapy Vice President of Operations Julie Cordero, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Gillian Gutierrez, Delta Air Lines’ Cassandra Hill, Psychiatrist Pauline Kuyler, Non-Traditional Employment for Women’s Denise Doyle, New York Life’s Gloria Martin Amaya, Northrop-Grumman’s Nancy Baldwin and Economist Lisa Boily

The Center for Women is based in Kew Gardens, but was founded and operated by Douglaston’s Ann Jawin. The group, which was founded in 1987, is described as a “one-stop, walk-in resource center” for women.
