Around Town: Sept. 11 Remembrance Events

For those in New York City who want to pay their respects to friends, neighbors and loved ones lost on Sept. 11, 2001, we've put together a small list of events and ways to give back. 

• Forest Hills' memorial will be held once again in Remsen Park at the intersection of Metropolitan Avenue and Alderton Street. In the event of rain, the memorial will be moved to the American Legion Hall at 107-15 Metropolitan Ave. The memorial will take place at 6:30 p.m.

• Nearby, there will be a candlelight vigil in Juniper Park, starting at 7:30 p.m., at the recently created Memorial Garden. Attendees are asked to bring a candle and a chair and meet at 78th Avenue and the park. For more information, go to www.911vigil.org.
