Around Town: Sept. 11 Remembrance Events

Find a way to give back or pay respects on Tuesday's day of service.

For those in New York City who want to pay their respects to friends, neighbors and loved ones lost on Sept. 11, 2001, we've put together a small list of events and ways to give back.

  • Nearby, there will be a candlelight vigil in Juniper Park, starting at 7:30 p.m., at the recently created Memorial Garden. Attendees are asked to bring a candle and a chair and meet at 78th Avenue and the park. For more information, go to www.911vigil.org.
  • Sept. 11 has also been designated as a national day of service. If you're looking for a way to volunteer and participate in one of the good deeds performed Tuesday, check out this link at New York Cares.
