Weiner Lambasts GOP Over NPR Defunding

Weiner takes on House Republicans over bill to defund public radio.

U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner picked another budget fight with House Republicans, this time over the decision to defund NPR.

In a speech on the House floor, Weiner sarcastically took the GOP’s side against “Car Talk,” an NPR radio show that features two Bostonian mechanics waxing poetic about the intricacies of automotive care.

The show, among others on the publicly-funded radio company, has come to be identified with the NPR brand at large, and Weiner took the opportunity during the House’s vote on defunding the station to rake Republicans over the coals for their decisions.
